Hello! My name is Stuart, and I am the owner of Cambridge Caravans. We are a small family-run independent business, and I am an experienced caravanner, having caravanned since I was 18 years old.
I have great memories of camping holidays with my (sadly) late parents, followed by borrowing their (quite old!) car and caravan to go on holiday in the UK. I have since been fortunate enough to tour most of the UK and also most of Europe in my own caravan. I am eternally grateful to my parents, not least for introducing me to a great way of spending my holidays.
For many years I was frustrated at the lack of a caravan dealership in the Cambridge area, so I decided to start a business selling good quality, hand-picked, pre-owned touring caravans, and more recently have opened an Accessories Shop.
We are not trained sales people in suits selling caravans on a commission basis (I am an ex-teacher and former director of an educational charity), but we are experienced in, and passionate about, caravans.
Our Aims and Principles
We are a "no-frills" business and aim to keep overheads to a minimum in order to be able to offer caravans at extremely competitive prices. Currently we sell only pre-owned caravans, as that way we are not tied to any manufacturer.
My philosophy is to only offer caravans for sale that I would be happy to own myself. I personally inspect every caravan that we buy, and I oversee all caravan sales, ensuring that you receive a very personal service. Most of our caravans are purchased from private individuals who are very often members of the two Clubs, and who have obviously taken good care of their caravans.
Without contradicting the previous paragraph, we try and stock a wide range of layouts to suit all budgets, wherever possible.
We never "pressure sell" but are always on hand to offer sound, honest advice - should you require it!
Our business was founded in 2009, and our objective is to establish an enviable reputation in the Cambridge area, and to achieve complete customer satisfaction, whether it be selling, servicing or repairing a caravan.
Our Warranty and PDI
Each caravan that we buy is CRiS checked where relevant (to see if it has been stolen, written off or has finance outstanding on it), and each caravan is checked for damp.
We offer our own "Return To Base" WARRANTY on most of our caravans, which has the added benefit that we are not tied to the decision of an insurance-based warranty (for example, the latter would not include a faulty motor mover, whereby we have covered repairs to these under our own warranty).
As well as offering a WARRANTY on most of our caravans, we also sell most of our caravans with a FULL SERVICE (worth almost £200).
When you buy a caravan from us, we give it a SERVICE and a PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION (PDI) and, on collection, spend as long as it takes in showing you all appliances working (fridge, cooker, heating system, hot water system, toilet, extractor, motor mover etc), as well as how to operate everything inside and outside the caravan.
We load our own photos and descriptions of our caravans onto our website ourselves, and do not use library images (unlike other websites which use photos of a caravan when new, which can be very misleading!).
All caravans are described to the best of our ability and as honestly as we can. However, people’s perceptions can differ so please feel free to come and view a caravan and make up your own mind.
